WWE Summerslam - Indianapolis, Indiana - 17-08-08

Whooo Hoooo! Summerslam is finely here! I’m looking forward to this!

First match: Jeff Hardy Vs M.V.P

Shelton Benjamin distracts Jeff Hardy which causes him to miss the swanton Bomb.

M.V.P pins hardy with the drive by kick.

VERDICT: 1/5 This wasn’t such a great match! It was pretty slow and never really picked up pace. There was a lot of counters in it but over all I wasn’t to impressed.

Backstage: Maria interviews Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix about their match tonight. Santino interrupts Maria saying that he didn’t recognise her because she’s really let her self fall apart since they broke up. He says he’s doing great because he has a new woman in his life “the tabloids call us glamarella, it’s a phenomenon!” Maria says like your brow? (santino has one long eye brow now) Santino says it drives the glamazon wild, “but enough about my manscaping, we have history to make. Come on broadzilla!” Lol Santino rules!!

Second match: Kofi Kingston & Mickie James Vs Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix (inter-gender winner takes all intercontential/womans championship match)

Beth Phoenix pins Mickie James while Santino lies unconscious after Mickie James give him a DDT.

VERDICT: 1/5 Actually this match was utter rubbish! The only good thing about it was Santino is no intercontential champion and after the match he got on Beth’s shoulders and she walked up the ramp with him! Hopefully now Santino will actually get a chance to wrestle properly now he’s the champ!

Shawn Michaels comes out to the ring with his (very sexy) wife. First he thanks everyone who’s supported him through this difficult time. Then he announces that his doctor’s recommendation was for him to retire from wrestling. Shawn then says that he’s going to heed the doctor’s advice and he’s going to walk away. He talks about his 20 year career in the WWE . Just when he’s thanking everyone from the bottom of his heart Chris Jerichos music hits.

Chris says he’s not going to let Shawn go out on his terms and wants him to admit that the real reason he’s retiring isn’t because of what his doctor says but it’s because he put him out of business for good! Shawn says he’ll do it, he’ll talk to his wife and kids and tell them Chris Jericho put him out of action if Chris Jericho goes home and tells his wife and kids that he’ll never be Shawn Michaels!

Jericho goes to punch Shawn but misses and punches his wife instead!

VERDICT: 2/5 It was pretty good stuff up till the point Rebecca Michaels got punched! It looked seriously real! After watching the replay I think she really did get punched! When she got up and left the ring she got a huge round of applause! She deserved it! Her lip was swollen as she walked up the ramp! Good job Rebecca!

Third match: Matt Hardy Vs Mark Henry (ECW championship)

Matt Hardy wins by disqualification because Mark Henry’s manager Tony Atlas interfered about 2 minutes in to the match!

After the match Jeff Hardy came out and the Hardy boys double suplexed Mark Henry outside the ring.

VERDICT: 0/5 What the hell, I didn’t see any of this match because I was scratching my back! What a pointless farce that was! Garbage!!

Forth match: J.B.L Vs CM Punk (world heavyweight championship match)

CM Punk pins J.B.L after hitting the go to sleep!

VERDICT: 1/5 J.B.L certainly came across as the dominant one in this match. It had a methodical pace to it and plenty of counters and a sudden GTS at the end from Punk. Quite enjoyable to watch but not a great match by any means!

Fifth match: Triple H Vs The Great Khali (WWE championship match)

Triple H pins Khali after hitting the pedigree.

VERDICT: 1/5 Me and everyone else knew Triple H would win. It was a pretty pathetic match! Khali dominated all the way through except for the odd flurry by Triple H. The pedigree at the end came after Khali missed a clothesline and hit the turnbuckle! It’s about time Triple H retired! He’s not convincing any more!

Sixth match: John Cena Vs Batista

Batista pins John Cena after the Batista bomb.

VERDICT: 3/5 Wow, this was a great match! It was non stop action from the start and had loads of counters and very near pins! Cena’s strength is awesome! I enjoyed this a lot! You never knew when it was going to end!

Seventh match: Edge Vs The Undertaker (hell in a cell)

The Undertaker wins the match after hitting the tombstone.

After the match was over the Undertaker reached the top of the ramp but suddenly turned and headed back down and set ladders up in the ring and choked slammed Edge from the top of a ladder right through the ring! Then Takers music hit and flames started coming from the hole Edge fell through.

VERDICT: 4/5 Wow! That match had everything! Tables, ladders, chairs, the side of the cage breaking off, going through announce tables! A vicious match! The end with Edge going through the ring and the flames coming out was cool! I’m glad i saw that match! It was worth buying the PPV just for that!

OVERALL VERDICT: 3/5 The first half of Summerslam was pretty disappointing! It was just like any episode of Raw or Smackdown! The second half was awesome though! Cena and Batista put on a good show and Taker and Edge was amazing!
