WWE Smackdown - London, Ontario - 09-05-08

Smackdown starts of with Vicky Guerrero, Edge and Teddy Long on the stage and Vicky says that she didn’t want to strip The Undertaker of the title but she had to do it. Then she says that at Judgement day the Undertaker will face someone for the title, but if he uses his submission move he will be disqualified from the championship match. Then she announces that tonight there will be a “championship chase to Judgement day” What that means is that a bunch of former champions from all WWE brands and divisions will face each other tonight in 1 on 1 matches. The winners of the singles matches will advance to an over the top battle royal and the winner of that will face The Undertaker for the title match at Judgement day.

First match: Matt Hardy Vs CM Punk (championship chase match)

Matt Hardy pins Punk.

VERDICT: 2/5 This was a great match! Could have been main even quality if it wasn’t so short! It was far to short to be really enjoyable I think. Still good though!

Second match: M.V.P Vs Finlay (championship chase match)

Both guys pinned each other so the match is a draw.

VERDICT: 3/5 This was another great match! It was very enjoyable and entertaining to watch. There was nothing spectacular in the match but still a joy to watch!

Third match: Kelly Kelly Vs Natalya

Natalya wins with a sharpshooter.

VERDICT: 0/5 Kelly Kelly is crap! Natalya did an ok job in the match but there’s nothing she could do to make this match good!

Forth match: John Morrison Vs Batista (championship chase match)

Batista wins with the Batista Bomb.

VERDICT: 2/5 Morrison was great in this match. He controlled 95% of the match but as usual Batista did nothing during the match then won with a couple of moves at the end. Batista sucks!

Fifth match:The Big Show Vs Tommy Dreamer (championship chase match)

Big Show wins with the choke slam.

VERDICT: 1/5 Just a squash match really. A pretty fast paced squash match though so it wasn’t boring at all.

Sixth match: Chavo Guerrero Vs Kane (championship chase match)

Kane pins Chavo.

VERDICT: 2/5 Nothing out of the ordinary in this match but good to watch. Not exciting but enjoyable none the less,

Seventh match: Vladimir Kozlov Vs Some Jobber

VERDICT: 0/5 Boring squash match!

Eighth match: Matt Hardy Vs M.V.P Vs Finlay Vs Batista Vs Big Show Vs Kane (over the top rope battle royal)

M.V.P eliminates Matt Hardy

Kane eliminates Finlay

M.V.P eliminates himself trying to go for his big kick.

Big Show eliminates Kane

Big Show eliminates the Big Show

Vicky comes out and announces that Edge has just been made a part of the championship chase battle royal.

Edge comes out and instantly eliminates Batista.

Edge is going to Judgement day to face the Undertaker.

The show ends with the Undertakers gong and the podium that the championship belt is on catching fire.

VERDICT: 2/5 The battle royal was quite good! Unpredictable in that i didn’t know who was going to win so that made it pretty exciting to watch! It certainly wasn’t boring! A good match all round. Edge coming out at the end and eliminating Batista was a nice twist.

OVERALL VERDICT: 3/5 From start to finish a very good edition of Smackdown! Even the crappy diva match was watchable. I think this is the only Smackdown ever that I was in to all the way through.
