WWE Smackdown - Des Moines, Iowa - 23-05-08

Smackdown stars of this week with Vicky Guererro and Edge at the top of the ramp. Vicky is getting serious heat from the crowd as she goes on about how it’s her job to uphold the rules and that’s why the Undertaker isn’t the champion now, because the rules say that the title can’t change hands with a count out. She then announces that Edge will face the Undertaker in a tables, ladders and chairs match for the championship at One Night Stand. Then she says that if the Undertaker looses the match he will be banished from the WWE.

First match: Jesse, Festus & Cherry Vs Deuce, Domino & Maurice

Maurice pins Cherry.

VERDICT: 0/5 Pretty standard match. Nothing exciting at all. Quite boring in fact! Maurice kicked Cherry then lost her balance or something because she fell over and it looked pretty stupid! Man, she’s hot though!

Backstage: Chavo says to Vicky and Edge that he’s sorry for not going out with them last week and he hopes there’s no hard feelings. Vicky says that she’s put him in a match tonight with the Undertaker!

M.V.P’s V.I.P Lounge. Teddy Long

M.V.P says that now Teddy isn’t his boss any more he’s going to tell him what he thinks of him for making his life so difficult when he started on Smackdown. Teddy says he’s not going to listen to this and starts to leave but M.V.P grabs him and says he will listen to him. Then Batista s music hits and out comes the big douche himself. I’m falling asleep already!

Batista says that he just came out to wish Teddy Long well and to thank him for being a fair general manager, and if M.V.P puts his hands of Teddy again he’s going to put his fist down his throat then he starts throwing M.V.P’s furniture around.

VERDICT: 0/5 Not only was it very boring but it was utterly pointless as well!

Backstage: M.V.P bursts in to Vicky’s office complaining about what just happened and asks what she’s going to do about it. Vicky makes a match between M.V.P and Batista.

Second match: Finlay Vs Chuck Palumbo

Finlays wins after hitting Palumbo with his stick.

VERDICT: 1/5 This was a surprisingly good match! It was very hard fought and went on for a decent length of time too. Hornswoggle got involved too of course. He spit green mist in Palumbo’s face before Finlay hit him with the stick.

Third match: M.V.P Vs Batista

Batista wins after the Batista bomb.

VERDICT: 1/5 A pretty good match to watch but it followed the same story nearly all Batista matches do. Batista was getting his ass kicked through nearly all of the match only to win at the end after a short flurry of power moves.

Forth match: Nunzio Vs Vladimir Kozlov

Kozlov wins as usual.

VERDICT: 0/5 Doesn’t deserve a comment!

Fifth match: Matt Hardy & Kofi Kingston Vs Shelton Benjamn & Elijah Burke

Kofi Kingston pinned Shelton Benjamin.

VERDICT: 2/5 Very enjoyable match to watch. Fast paced and back and fourth with lots of quick moves. Very good!

The Undertaker pins Chavo after the Tombstone.

VERDICT: 2/5 It wasn’t really a very good match! It was entertaining though in that the Undertaker kicked ass. Edge and co were all out at the ring but the ref sent them back half way through the match.

OVERALL VERDICT: 1/5 Boring Smackdown all round this week! It wasn’t dire or seriously bad but jsut boring!
