WWE Raw - Columbia, South Carolina - 24-03-08

This week Raw starts off with John Cena coming to the ring and reminding us that it’s Wrestlemania this Sunday. He says that quite a few times and in thankfully interrupted by The Big Show. Big Show says that the highlight of this years Wrestlemania is going to be him knocking out Floyd Mayweather. Then J.B.L’s music comes on and J.B.L comes out to say that his match is going to be the best match because in his match there’s no rules. Now Randy Orton comes out and says he’s going to win his match. Then Umaga comes out and says some stuff in Samoan. John Cena does quite an amusing translation of what he says but is interrupted by Triple H.

Bloody hell, the whole locker room will be in the ring soon! Triple H says he’s going to win the WWE title and there’s nothing any one can do about it. J.B.L interrupts him saying he doesn’t care what he thinks and a verbal argument starts between everyone in the ring. William Regal comes out and says tonight there’s going to be an 8 man no disqualification match. It’s going to be Randy Orton, Umaga, J.B.L and The Big Show Vs John Cena, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair.

VERDICT: 2/5 An entertaining way to start the show. Each man did a good job and it was pretty interesting to watch and listen to them. I’m looking forward to the rest of the show now!

First match: Chris Jericho & CM Punk Vs M.V.P & Carlito

M.V.P covers CM Punk after Jericho accidentally kicks him.

VERDICT: 1/5 Not a bad match but seemed a bit slow considering the guys involved. Not to bad though.

Backstage: Mr. Kennedy does a promo saying he’s going to win the Money In The Bank match.

Second match: Hard Core Holly Vs The Great Khali

VERDICT: 0/5 Boring squash match!

Ric Flair comes to the ring in a suit and says that he’s loosing respect for Shawn Michaels because he came out and saved him from loosing his match with Vince McMahon last week. Flair says that Shawn doesn’t have any confidence in him and calls Shawn out to talk about it. Shawn Michaels comes out and goes on about how much respect he has for Flair and Flair tells him to shut up and then goes on to name some of the great wrestlers he’s beaten in his career and that he chose to fight Shawn Michaels because he wants to prove that he’s still got what it takes. Shawn then says for Flair not to worry, that he’ll get his best and then compares Flair to old yeller “I’m going to take you out the back of the wood shed and put you out of your misery”. Ric Flair takes major offence to this and starts slapping Shawn Michaels. Shawn doesn’t do anything but says “like i said, I’m going to put you out of your misery” and leaves the ring.

VERDICT: 4/5 Whooo hoooo! I did a pretty shit job of describing this but it was brilliant! I can’t wait to see these guys fight now. I’m glad all the mutual respect rubbish is over and now they’re getting nasty!

Third match: Maria Vs Melina (with Beth Pheonix)

The match starts and Ashley comes running down and things get very weird as the 4 women start arguing in the ring. Then Santino Marella comes to the ring (YAY!! :)) and then Jerry Lawler gets in the ring too. William Regal then comes out and says that there’s going to be an inter-gender tag match right now!

VERDICT: 0000000/5 What in the fuck fuck FUCK was that! That was pathetic! Santino got beaten up by Maria and Ashley which was quite funny but only because it was Santino but apart form that this “match” was utter garbage! Pfffttttt!

Backstage: Triple H and John Cena tell each other that their going to win at Wrestlemania.
Fifth match: John Cena, Triple H, Shawn Michaels & Ric Flair Vs J.B.L, Randy Orton, Big Show & Umaga

A few minutes in to the match Findlay comes out and him and J.B.L start fighting outside the ring. I think they both fought each other back to the back.

Then Batista comes out and him and Umaga fight each other to the back.

Big Show turns on Randy Orton and leaves! Now it’s just Orton left on his team.

John Cena and Triple H fight each other out of the ring.

Shawn Michaels puncches Flair in the face and Flair punches Shawn in the balls. Now Shawns gone!

Ric Flair Makes Orton Tap out.

VERDICT: 0/5 Ummm, don’t know what the hell to say about this! Bit of a waste of time I’d say. Obviously it was meant to built anticipation for Wrestlemania but it’s had the opposite effect on me! They should have just had the match instead of having Finlay and Batista come out and all the rest of the shananagins that went on!

OVERALL VERDICT: 0/5 Things started out so well! The guys in the ring at the start were good, First match was ok, Shawn and Flair were good. Everything else was shit though! To much “I’m going to be the winner at Wrestlemania” talk! To much Mayweather Vs Big Show adverts! A very bad attempt at a main event to built up Wrestlemania and the most pointless inter-gender match in the history of the world! Booooo to this weeks Raw!
