This weeks smackdown starts with a video recap of the Edge/Batista feud over the last 2 weeks.
Ohhh fantastic, Vicky guerrero is being wheeled in her wheel chair down to the ring by Teddy long. Every damn week starts like this! I wonder what the old boot is going to say….. Oooo, there’s going to be a series of beat the clock matches and the overall winner will face the champion at the Royal Rumble. Cool!
With the departure of J.B.L the new commentator is announced. Jonathon Coachman comes down to the ring. The fans don’t seem to pleased to see him. I quite like Coachman as a commentator! At worst he’s bound to be better than J.B.L was!
First match: Finlay Vs M.V.P (beat the clock challenge)
Pretty slow match for a beat the clock match! At 9:46 minutes Hornswoggle throws a shilallie to findlay who clobbers M.V.P with it and gets the pin.
Mr.Mcmahon comes down to the ring where Findlay and Hornswoggle are celebrating, gives Hornswoggle a big hug and leaves again. Supposed to prove that he really does love The little guy.
VERDICT: 1/5 Rubbish! Slow and boring match.
Second match: Chuck Palumbo & Michelle McCool Vs Kenny Dykstraa & Victoria
Dykstraa & Victoria win after Victoria lands the widows peak on McCool.
After the match Palumbo looses his head and has a right go at McCool for loosing them the match, then takes of and leaves her in the ring by herself!
VERDICT: 3/5 Pretty short but a fast paced and entertaining match. The two divas fought most of the match and did a good job!
Backstage bit: Chavo is telling Vicky that she’s tearing the family apart because of her realationship with edge and complains that what he wants is to turn back the hands of time. I hate these stupid backstage things!
Third match: Chavo Guerrero Vs Funaki (Beat the clock match)
Chavo wins with the Gory bomb at 6:02
VERDICT: 3/5 Pretty fast paced, loads of pins fall attempts from both guys which made for an exciting match.
Fourth match: Batista Vs Curt Hawkins
Just as the 2 guys are about to get started Vicky guarrero appears on the titan tron and says that this will be a handicapped match. It now becomes Batista Vs Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder.
The time runs out on the match so no winners.
Verdict: 1/10 Typical Batista match. Big powerfull Batista kicks everyones ass in the end. Exept this time there was a time limit so he didn’t win. Good!
Backstage bit: M.V.P is on the phone to someone complaining that he should have won the match and that he’s better than Findlay. He say’s he’s going to blow the roof of the business by doing what HHH couldn’t do. He wants to beat Ric Flair.
Fifth match: Deuce n Domino Vs Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang
Shannon Moore Pins Domino after pushing him in to Deuce who is on his way to the top rope with a quick roll up.
VERDICT: 3/5 Good match to watch. Plenty of high flying moves from Wang Yang and Moore and plenty of power moves from Deuce n Domino. I like matches like this!
Sixth match: The Undertaker Vs Matt Striker (Beat the clock match)
No wait, Striker comes out and says he’s not the opponent but the special guest referee for the match and announces Mark Henry as the Undertakers opponent.
The time ran out on this match so there was no winner.
VERDICT: 4/5 Good match. Not much happened that we haven’t seen before when these two face each other. The undertaker went up to the top rope do his old school move and Mark Henry caught him in mid air, don’t think I’ve seen that one before!
The Undertaker should have won the match! He hit the choke slam with about 10 seconds to go. Striker counted 1….2……………… The 3 count never came and the time ran out. Obviously A cunning plot by Vicky Guerrero to stop the Undertaker from winning!
Seventh match: Rey Mysterio Vs Edge (Beat the clock match)
Bit of a surprise here. Why is Edge competing in this, is he going to fight himself at the Royal Rumble if he wins!?
Rey Mysterio Pins Edge with 2 minutes left to go! Mysterio is facing Edge at the Rumble.
VERDICT: 4/5 That’s a high score for a match that only lasted 4 minutes! It wasn’t the action that made the match good though, it was Batista running down half way through and belting Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder (who accompanied Edge to the ring) out of the area and then the Undertaker appeared at the top of the ramp, the lights went out, “BONG”, the lights come on and Edge is out on the ropes. Mysterio hits him with the 619 and gets the pin.
OVERALL VERDICT: 3/5 One of the better smackdowns I’ve seen in a while. Plenty of good action and surprises all the way through. I hope they keep this kind of quality up!
