This weeks Raw starts with Jeff Hardy coming out to the ring and calls out Randy Orton. Randy comes out and says that only two people have ever held both the intercontinental belt and WWE championship belt at the same time and that he would like to be the third person to have both titles. He challenges Hardy to a match tonight for his intercontinental title and Matt accepts.
First match: Ashley, Maria & Mickie James Vs Melina, Jillian Hall & Beth Phoenix
Beth Phoenix pins Mickie James after a fishermans suplex.
VERDICT: 1/5 Just a bit of eye candy to start the night off. The divas matches are rarely worth commenting on!
Second Match: Shawn Michaels Vs Trevor Murdoch (royal rumble qualifier match)
Shawn Michaels wins by submission with a modified figure 4 leg lock.
VERDICT: 2/5 WWE must be running out of ideas. As if Trevor Murdoch would win and go on to the Royal Rumble at the expense of The Heart Break Kid! Not much of a much, no surprise there!
Backstage: Vince Mcmahon is talking to Hornswoggle telling him that he could win the Royal Rumble. To prepare Horny for the Rumble he has set up a special mini Royal Rumble Match for him tonight. There will be 5 competitors in it. Batista, Kane, Mr. Kennedy, Mankind and a surprise wrestler.
Third Match: Triple H Vs Snitzky
Snitzky wins by disqualification after HHH clobbers Snitzky with a chair.
VERDICT: 2/5 and Snitzky is cow ass ugly!. Not a bad match. Snitzky put up a convincing fight against HHH.
After the match Triple H git the sledgehammer from under the ring and hit Snitzky with it the pedigreed him.
Vince Mcmahon appears on the screen as Triple H is going up the ramp and says to him that he’s getting more aggressive every week and he should calm down. Triple H hits the screen with the sledge hammer and one of the most unconvincing explosions in television happens. As if a screen would explode when something ripped through it! Please!
Backstage: Vince confronts Triple H and tells him he’s Back in the Royal Rumble on the condition that he beats a mystery opponent next week.
J.B.L comes to the ring and thousands of black and red balloons rain down from above. He taunts Chris Jericho and tells who’s at home with a sore neck after the thrashing he got last week and makes things very personal. J.B.L looks in to the camera and tells Jerichos kids that their daddy is a looser. He leaves the ring and there’s about a gazzillion pyro explosions go off as he’s leaving!
Fourth match: Mini Royal Rumble (Hornswoggle, Mr.Kennedy, Mankind, Batista, Kane
This is a midget fight! It’s mini Mr. Kennedy, Mankind etc.
Hornswoggle wins
VERDICT: 3/5 This was the most entertaining match of the night by far! The midgets were great amazingly like their full size ! The Batista midget was much better than the real Batista! The Kane midget was quite scary! I actually laughed out loud when mini Kane tried to choke slam Hornswoggle and Hornswoggle just looked at him.
The match took a boring turn when the Great Khali came out. Finlay then came out and hammered Khali. Yawn, that happens ever week now.
Backstage: Vince Mcmahon and Finlay are arguing and talking about the deal they made last week. Vince makes a match between Finlay and The Great Khali on smackdown next week.
Fifth match: Ric Flair Vs William Regal (career threatening match)
Ric Flair wins by pin. (Flair pulled Regals tights to get the 3 count)
VERDICT: 1/5 Disappointing match. I hoped for more from these two veterans but it wasn’t to be. Not sure why this was a career threatening match because Ric Flair is booked to face M.V.P at the Royal Rumble so everyone knew he was going to win.
Sixth Match: Jeff Hardy Vs Randy Orton (Intercontinental championship match)
Hardy wins by disqualification after Orton kicks Hardy in the balls. It was the first and only move in the match!
VERDICT: 4/5 There was no match! The action happened afterwards. The two guys fought up the ramp. Orton tried to kick Hardy in the head but Hardy backdropped Orton off the stage! Then he went up the lightening scaffold and did a swanton bomb from about 30 feet high on to Orton! The two of them were then stretchered out of the arena.
OVERALL VERDICT: 2/5 Very boring Raw! The midget rumble was quite funny but the only talking point was the Jeff Hardy swanton at the end of the show. That guys nuts! NUTS!!
